Russian President Vladimir Putin will not attend the funeral of Mikhail Gorbachev, the Soviet Union'

leader, the Kremlin has confirmed. Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Mr Putin's work schedule would not permit him to attend the event on Saturday.
