ROVERS FC DEFEATS SPORTING LAGOS 1-0 IN CALABAR: SIMEON UMEH’S STRIKE SECURES VITAL WIN

In an exhilarating NNL 2025 encounter, Rovers FC edged out Sporting Lagos with a 1-0 victory in Calabar, thanks to a first-half goal from Simeon Umeh The match, held at the Rovers’ home ground, saw Umeh's precise strike in the first 45 minutes as the game’s lone goal, which secured all three points for his side. The assist for the crucial goal came from Ette Okon, affectionately known as Zambrota, who displayed excellent vision and precision to set up Umeh’s effort.

Rovers FC's coach, James Esu, expressed his delight after the match, commending his players for their resilience and commitment on the pitch. Esu also took the time to acknowledge the significant motivational support the team received, particularly from His Excellency, Apostle Sen. Prince Otu, whose leadership and backing were felt throughout the team's preparation and performance.

The SA for Sports Development, Mr. Ekanem Ekpenyong, was also praised for his efforts in encouraging the team, making sure they had everything they needed to perform at their best.

The excitement was palpable among the club's officials, with the Vice Chairman, Mr. Etta Egbe, and Team Manager, Edem Oyom, all visibly thrilled with the win. Their enthusiasm reflected the collective effort that went into securing the much-needed three points.
