IRONBAR'S IMPACT TOWARDS STRENGTHENING CROSS RIVER'S SPORTS SECTOR.

In a significant development, the State Governor, Sen.Bassey Otu has appointed renowned weightlifting champion, Mr. Emmanuel Ironbar, to serve as the Technical Adviser for the Cross River State Sports Commission. 

The appointment, officially conveyed in a letter dated October 1, 2023, was presented to the Speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Elvert Ayambem, by Hon. Agnes Atsu, the Commissioner for Sports. 

Mr. Ironbar's journey to this role is remarkable, having been discovered by the Cross River State Government in Lagos and brought back to his home state. 

The Speaker, in confirming and presenting the appointment letter, expressed his gratitude to the Governor for fulfilling his promise to provide a fitting appointment for the weightlifting champion, highlighting how this move further underscores the Governor's commitment to the "People-First Mantra."

Furthermore, The Cross River State Commissioner for Sports Development, Hon. Agnes Atsu,  announced that Ironbar would also take on the role of Chief Coach for the CRS Weightlifting Team.

The appointment follows a recent two Million Naira Medical Funding from the Governor to support Ironbar's recovery and regain his fitness after welcoming him at the Governor's office. 

In response to these opportunities, Mr. Emmanuel Ironbar expressed his heartfelt appreciation to the Governor and pledged his dedication to serve both the commission and the state by leveraging his extensive knowledge and experience in the sports sector. 

He said the appointment will serve as a testament to the state government's commitment to nurturing and utilizing talents of its citizens in the field of sports.
