Halo Ring Styles: Designs, Diamond Shapes, and What to Know

Halo rings are known for their central gemstone surrounded by smaller diamonds, creating a design that combines detail with brilliance. Different halo styles can change the ring’s overall appearance, making it useful to understand the options before choosing a design.

A classic round halo features a round center diamond encircled by smaller stones. The symmetrical shape creates a balanced, timeless appearance that works well with different band styles and metal colours.

Oval halo rings have an elongated center stone framed by a matching halo. This shape creates a graceful silhouette, while the surrounding diamonds add definition and sparkle. The proportions of the oval and halo can make each design look distinctive.

Pear-shaped halo rings combine a rounded end with a pointed tip, creating a teardrop-like outline. The halo follows the stone’s shape, emphasizing its distinctive profile. This style can appeal to those looking for something different from traditional round designs.

Cushion halo rings feature a square or rectangular center stone with softened corners, offering a blend of vintage character and contemporary style. Hidden halo designs take a subtler approach by placing smaller diamonds beneath the center stone, adding detail that is more visible from the side than from above.

, consider the center diamond’s shape, the halo’s proportions, the setting style, and the metal used for the band. These details influence the ring’s appearance, comfort, and overall design.

Diamond certification is another consideration when evaluating a purchase. An

diamond can come with a grading report from the International Gemological Institute, detailing characteristics such as cut, colour, clarity, and carat weight, depending on the report type. Reviewing the report alongside the ring’s design can help you make a more informed choice.

From classic round halos to distinctive pear and cushion styles, the best design is one that reflects your personal taste and suits how you plan to wear it.
