A Day in the Life of a Legal Secretary

Good day everyone! I'm Hallasgo Apple Mae, I'm very jubilant to share my experience working as a legal secretary at the vibrant law firm. I believe that my role is highly essential for the legal team to start the work and finish it. The legal area has always been appealing to me, and now, as a legal secretary, I am given the chance to learn about law in depth by helping lawyers as well as clients. I'm going to narrate to you a day out of my life pointing out my schedule, the tough times I had to overcome as well as the happy triumph moments which encourage me to keep going.

I wake up at 8:00 AM. I make it to the office ahead of my colleagues to start off my work. First, I switch on my computer and look at my emails and messages. This greatly affects how I commence laying out the rest of my day. I answer anything urgent, marking anything that requires quick attention from the lawyer.

Getting out of my inbox, I then set up the conference room for whatever appointments are scheduled for the day. This means preparing the proper tech, arranging the chairs, and laying out drinks and snacks. I'm very conscious of creating a welcoming space for clients and coworkers, because first impressions are everything.

Next, I go into the role of organizing the calendar of the attorney, which includes scheduling appointments with clients, court appearances, as well as deadlines. You will be needed to coordinate all clients and professionals so that nothing goes wrong during the arrangements. I spend the rest of the time filing papers and organizing case files in a way that ensures everything is updated and easily accessible.

I sometimes spend the morning taking calls and answering client questions. I am often the first point of contact for clients; therefore, I must try to provide an excellent customer service level while preserving a level of confidentiality and professionalism. It is quite satisfactory to make the clients feel more comfortable when handling something very personal or, in many cases. 

When afternoon comes, I begin to round up my business for the day. This usually entails finalizing any legal documents that should be sent out or otherwise forwarded to clients. I would then check these documents again for accuracy and the necessary conditions before hitting the "send" button.

 I would also spend this time completing the rest of the emails and picking up phone messages so that nothing can possibly fall through the cracks. Then, I would look over the schedule for the next day, marking anything important such as meetings and deadlines for which I need to prepare.

Another primary task is making preparations for upcoming meetings or appointments. I ensure that the attorney has everything they need for a successful meeting as I prepare all the necessary documents and develop agendas. Finally, I take a few moments to organize and clean my workspace, ensuring that I leave the office tidy for the next day.

At the end of the day, I think of the very satisfying and sometimes disturbing aspects of my position as a legal secretary. The most gratifying part is knowing that I help to account for the essential work of an support team that legally greases the wheels of the life of a client within the system. However, at times, I do find an almost frenzied environment coupled with a fine-tooth comb fast pace overwhelming. All in all, I gain a lot of satisfaction from what I do and enjoy the pride of being associated with a profession that makes a difference in people's lives.
