_Ukoh Ugochukwu’s Goal Seals Rovers FC’s Hard-Fought Win Against Godswill Akpabio FC_

The Nigeria National League (NNL) 2024/25 season week 8 saw an electrifying clash at the U. J. Esuene Stadium in Calabar, where Rovers FC secured a crucial 1-0 victory over visiting Godswill Akpabio FC. The match, which took place on 1st Saturday, February 2025, saw an intense battle between the two sister-state teams, with Rovers FC proving their dominance in front of their passionate home supporters.  

From the first whistle, both teams displayed tactical discipline and resilience, making it a high-stakes encounter. The visiting side, Godswill Akpabio FC from Uyo, came into the game with confidence, aiming to cause an upset, but the home side remained composed and controlled the tempo.  

The decisive moment came in the second half when Rovers FC’s attacking duo combined brilliantly. A well-delivered pass from Imbush Jr found Ukoh Chukwuma  who made no mistake in heading  the ball past the opposition goalkeeper, sending the home fans into wild celebrations.  

Despite late pressure from Godswill Akpabio FC, the Rovers FC defense stood firm, ensuring they claimed all three points.  

Speaking after the game, Rovers FC Technical Adviser, Mr. Caleb Esu, expressed his satisfaction with the team's performance, commending their resilience and tactical discipline.  

I’m very pleased with the way the boys played today. They followed our tactical plan and showed great determination. This is a good game for us, and we will continue to build on this momentum,” he said.  

The team manager was very enthusiastic about the victory and he said, the boys did perfectly will to win the game. 

The victory was not only a significant morale booster for the team but also a joyous occasion for the fans who turned up in large numbers to cheer their beloved Rovers FC to victory.  

With this victory, Rovers FC has set the tone for their NNL campaign, and they will be looking to maintain their winning form in the coming fixtures. Fans are encouraged to keep supporting the team as they push for promotion to the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).
