Pee Mak

"Pee Mak" is a popular Thai folklore about a man named Mak and his wife, Nak. The legend tells the story of Mak, a soldier who goes off to war, leaving his pregnant wife, Nak, behind. 

Tragically, Mak is injured in battle and presumed dead. However, he miraculously survives and returns home to his wife and newborn child. Upon his return, Mak notices that something is not quite right with his wife. She appears different, exhibiting unusual behavior and a possessive attitude towards their child. 

Despite his friends' warnings that Nak may have died during childbirth, Mak is determined to uncover the truth. As Mak investigates further, he discovers that Nak is, in fact, a ghost who died during childbirth while he was away at war. Nak's spirit has returned to be with her husband and child, unable to move on to the afterlife. Despite the eerie circumstances, Mak's love for Nak remains strong, and he accepts her for who she is. 

The story of Mak and Nak is a poignant tale of love that transcends death and the boundaries between the living and the spirit world. It explores themes of loyalty, sacrifice, and the enduring power of love even in the face of supernatural circumstances.
