The historic novelty match held in Obudu marked a momentous occasion as it brought together two formidable teams: the Obudu women in politics and the Bekwarra women in politics. Sponsored by the Commissioner for Sports Development, Hon. Agnes Atsu, the event was more than just a game; it was a tribute to the late Chief Akpo, father to the former 1st Lady of Cross River State, Her Excellency Dr. Linda Ayade.

The match, which ended in a thrilling 0-0 draw, showcased the strength, skill, and determination of both teams. Ultimately, the Obudu Women in Politics emerged victorious with a 4-2 win over their Bekwarra counterparts, demonstrating their prowess on the field.

Not to be overshadowed, the male teams also gave a commendable performance, with Obudu Hilltop securing a 1-0 victory against May/Frank FC.

The presence of esteemed figures such as representatives of Her Excellency, Rev. Eyoanwan Bassey Otu, the 1st Lady of Cross River state.   Senior Special Adviser Admin. Dr. Mrs Comfort Oko , former Commissioner for local government affairs Hon. Stella added prestige to the event.

In recognition of their achievements, the Commissioner for Sports Development presented a cash prize of #100,000 to both Obudu and Bekwarra women,

further highlighting the significance of this historical moment in Obudu.

As the commissioner re-echoed the tagline of her sweet Mother Her Excellency Rev. Eyoanwan Bassey Otu. This competition not only celebrated athleticism but also fostered unity and camaraderie within the community, setting a precedent for future sporting events in the region.
