H3N2, a type of flu, is a dominant subtype of influenza A virus after the H1N1. The strains of H1N1 were found in humans during the 1918 Spanish flu pandemic and the 2009 swine flu phase.H3N2 was discovered in 1968 during the global outbreak of the Hong Kong flu pandemic — known as the third influenza pandemic of the 20th century.
