Before we got married, it looked like everyone was against our marriage

My mum didn't like her, "Emeka, I don't like this girl. My spirit doesn't accept her", she would always tell me.

Even people that knew her, including those I thought were her friends weren't in support of me marrying her. They wouldn't say it in her presence because they feared her a lot.

Well, on my own side, my heart already belonged to her. I loved her so much. She was everything I wanted; beautiful, intelligent, industrious and to crown it all, she was a Christian.

We finally got married and everything kept moving smoothly until one day.

She had just put to birth and was at home with my mother when I got back from work. I entered the house only to find my mum vastly asleep on the couch. I guess she must have been waiting for my arrival like she always does. It was already 7:30pm.

Without wanting to disturb her, I headed up to our room to meet my wife and child but they weren't in the room.

I started hearing the sound of a running tap coming from the direction where our bathroom was. 

" Honey, I'm home" I said as I headed to the bathroom.

I opened the door and was shocked at what I saw.

A half human snake in the bathing tub with my child in her hands.
