A trigger point is a tight area within muscle tissue that causes pain when pressed or when the muscle is in use. These points can be tender to the touch and may refer pain to other parts of the body. Trigger points can develop as a result of overuse, injury, or stress and can lead to muscle stiffness, weakness, and limited range of motion. Treatment for trigger points may include massage, stretching, physical therapy, and in some cases, injections or dry needling.
