  塾の講師は学校の教師とまったく違う仕事だ。学校の先生は学力が旧帝を受験する生徒からFラン大学を受験する生徒までを指導している。したがって、使用する教材も授業レベルもその中間の生徒を対象に選定される。塾講師はまった違う。学校の教師のような教材の選定や授業を行ったら生徒がやめてしまい失業してしまう。

　学校は「強制」のシステムだ。生徒は教師を選べない。教師も生徒を選べない。これは、悲劇と言わざるをえない。塾は、嫌なら他の塾に移ればよい。自由だ。講師も、ヤル気がない生徒は退塾させることも可能だから「不良の集まる塾」「東大受験生だけの塾」という色分けができる。

　受験を「運が良かった」「運が悪かった」と捉える人は合格がつかめない。確かに運というものは存在するだろう。しかし、その運でさえ努力をしない人には掴めないものなのだ。幸運の女神は頑張る人にだけ微笑む。

 Teaching at a cram school is a completely different job than teaching at a school. School teachers teach students whose academic ability ranges from those who take entrance exams for old imperial universities to those who take entrance exams for F-rank universities.

　Therefore, the teaching materials and class level are selected for students in the middle of the range. Cram school teachers are completely different. If they selected teaching materials and gave lessons like school teachers do, students would quit and they would lose their jobs.

　Schools are "forced" systems. Students cannot choose their teachers. Teachers cannot choose their students. This is a tragedy, I must say. In cram schools, students can move to another school if they don't like it. They are free to do so. Teachers can also expel students who do not want to study at the school, so the school can be divided into two categories: "a school for delinquents" and "a school only for students preparing for the Tokyo University entrance examination.

　Those who consider taking an entrance examination as "lucky" or "unlucky" will not be able to pass the exam. There is certainly such a thing as luck. But even that luck cannot be grasped by those who do not work hard. The goddess of fortune smiles only on those who work hard.
