Benedict T. Palen, Jr has consistently devoted time to people in need as part of a commitment that he made years ago to his mother, a social worker in the rural areas of Louisiana in the 1930s and 1940s. For the past few years, he has been a volunteer and board member at his local parish's St. Vincent de Paul Society. The Society provides assistance for basic human needs to residents of southwest Denver. Also, he serves on the Board of Directors of the Denver area St. Vincent de Paul Society, which is responsible for providing policy guidance and financial assistance to parish groups.
