The catfish has an elongated body shape, silver-white in color with a bluish back. Catfish do not have scales, the head of the catfish is relatively small with the mouth located at the end of the head slightly down. This is a characteristic of the catfish group. Body length can reach 120 cm.

This catfish is found in the southern part of Nigeria,especially around Akwa Ibom and Cross River States where it is mostly cherished.
It also found in other parts of the country,but it's prominence is in the southern part of the country
