NAMED A BEST BOOK OF 2021 BY THE NEW YORKER AND PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
โ[Warmth]ย is lyrical and erudite, engaging with science, activism, and philosophy . . . [Sherrell] captures the complicated correspondence between hope and doubt, faith and despairโthe pendulum of emotional states that defines our attitude toward the future.Date: Reviewed in the United States ๐บ๐ธ on September 4, 2022
Review: "Warmth..." will have you packing for the next planet, and if all flights are booked then get down to the business of saving our Earth.

Title: need a dictionary to read this
Date: Reviewed in the United States ๐บ๐ธ on October 23, 2021
Review: Interesting approach to elaborating concerns about what we are collectively doing to our environment. However, i did not much care for the author's repeated need to use every arcane word he has learned in the course of earning his ivy league education. I consider myself fairly well read, with a decently broad vocabulary, but often needed to look up words to understand what he was trying to say. That caused me to put the book down frequently.
I applaud Mr. Sherrell's activism and wish him well in trying to help save a planet under attack from a wide variety of powerful people who put their own self-interests ahead of maintaining a place suitable for human habitation.

Title: The book on climate I've been waiting for
Date: Reviewed in the United States ๐บ๐ธ on August 22, 2021
Review: I am a climate activist, but I don't read books on the climate crisis. I don't need more knowledge, I don't need more facts. What I need is spiritual sustenance to keep going. This book provides it. The author describes his emotions, his fears and his fantasies, while fighting and living under a doomsday cloud. The key word is "living," as he observes his daily life and existential struggles with a compelling poetic voice. Keeping that voice with me will help me keep going, too.

Title: The best book on how to face a warmer future
Date: Reviewed in the United States ๐บ๐ธ on August 19, 2021
Review: Of the books I read in 2021, this one most changed, and many times repaired, my view of the world. I think it is the best book for conceptualizing the scale of the crisis of global warming. It gives a framework for how to stay motivated in this fight and the book added tremendous nuance into the way I will talk about "the Problem" in the future

Title: Excellent combination of memoir and policy
Date: Reviewed in the United States ๐บ๐ธ on November 1, 2021
Review: This book is unlike any other I have read on climate change. It focuses mostly on the emotional and psychological impact of "The Problem." as Sherrell calls it, on a generation that fears for its future and feels powerless to change it.

Title: Overwritten
Date: Reviewed in the United States ๐บ๐ธ on July 15, 2022
Review: I can't imagine how this book would help Sherrell's child.
Maybe this guilty confession has been therapeutic for Sherrell, but he is shifting its weight onto the next generation.
If it were my child, I'd say, "You will love people and people will love you."
And I would leave it at that.

Title: Powerful book

Review: I saw Daniel Sherrell speaks in Albany, NY and he was incredibly powerful. His message was taken from this book, which I purchased. It doesn't pull any punches. The time is now to take action. It's well written and to the point.

Title: Gorgeous, thoughtfulโฆ
Date: Reviewed in the United States ๐บ๐ธ on January 9, 2022
Review: Ah, the irony of writing a review for this particular book on Amazonโฆ
Daniel Sherrell is a brilliant writer, and this book will stay with me for a long time. I heard him in an interview, and he struck me as so thoughtful and perceptive that I was moved to buy this book. I was not disappointed. The prose is gorgeous and captivating, but not dishonest. If you read the description and think it sounds interesting, definitely buy the book. I predict you will be glad you did.
