Review: I was profoundly influenced towards greater emotional healing after reading and applying the groundbreaking truths presented in Eddie Capparucci’s earlier book, "Going Deeper." So, I was intrigued and eager to read his new book, “Why Men Struggle to Love : Overcoming Relational Blind Spots.” How grateful I am that I did! The concepts, personal testimonies, and practical exercises detailed in its pages dovetails perfectly with what I learned in Going Deeper. While reading it’s pages I felt like someone finally understood my heart! Not only did he open my eyes to various emotional and relational blind spots I struggled with, he expertly offered numerous antidotes to help me manage and resolve the emotional pain that had impacted every relationship I valued in my life. His opening concept, “Being sober isn’t enough. There is more at play, and it comes down to the fact that many men who battle addiction also struggle to love” is a powerful kernel-of-truth that was expertly opened up to my understanding. If you’re like me you will greatly benefit from Capparucci’s shirt-sleave style of communication. He makes difficult concepts easy to comprehend. I consider “Why Men Struggle to Love: Overcoming Relational Blind Spots.” to have been a pivotal point of healing in my life and I highly recommend it to men serious about overcoming lifelong struggles to experience satisfying emotional connections with the ones they love.

If your wife ever says she wants a deeper emotional connection with you, read this book.
If you grew up in a calm and secure home and got all the love you needed, buy this book and give it to a friend, they probably didn't.

I don't normally review items. I don't normally finish books I buy either. I've read this book in two days while taking notes (don't normally do that either).

I've been to many therapists over the last several years, and I feel like this had more useful information than all of the therapists. Perhaps I was just ready to comprehend and understand it.

This book confirms what I was afraid of; I am a teenage boy in the body of a 37 year old man while trying to be a husband and father, typically failing, especially on the husband front.

This book teaches why I am like this and gives very clear and practical ways to change.
Most of what he calls "blind spots" fit me perfectly. On one hand, it was helpful to see that I'm not the only one that does these things or has these issues, and on the other hand, it shows me how much work I have to commit to doing so that I can be the man my family deserves.

While Dr. Capparucci seems to specialize in porn/sex addictions, I'd say this book applies to any man or young man who grew up in a house where they didn't get the love and care that was needed.
It's like the saying in recovery meetings; "what's your problem; the drug/addiction was just the solution to your problem".

While, I've only just completed this book, I have pages of notes and actions that I will take to better myself. Honestly, it isn't much that I have not already seen, but the methodical way that it was presented and how he ties each action as a solution (antidote as he calls it) was very helpful.

I plan on using what I've learned to better myself and the relationship with my family. I see a ton of potential, I just have to put in the effort.

Review: This book is a blessing to any man who wants to learn to experience optimum relationships in all areas of life, but especially with their wives. Written by a highly experienced Ph.D. therapist who focuses on men's issues, it examines 14 blind spots that prevent men from achieving relational connections. Blind spots are defined as relationship obstacles that impact men's ability to participate in healthy relationships. At the end of each chapter the author provides action items (called antidotes) to help men overcome these relational blindspots. Well written, easy to read and understand, this book is well worth studying! The material is certainly transforming my husband's life and I recommend it to both men and women.

Review: This book has helped me immensely in my recovery from sex addiction. Unlike other books that focus just on sobriety and traditional recovery, the author focuses on practical ways to build emotional connections with your partner. I learned from the author’s previous book about the “Inner Child“ about my childhood trauma. This book has helped me start to understand what I need to do to rewire my thinking, address the trauma head on and experience the “emotional discomfort”which is critical for my recovery.

Review: As a recovery specialist, this is the best, if not only book I've seen on what I'd call "Stage 2 Recovery" for sexual addictions. So many men are able to quit porn and other compulsive sexual behaviors in the first year of recovery but are still left with damaged relationships they don't know how to fix. "Why Men Struggle" goes over the second stage of recovery where men learn how to put relationships back together. A truly needed book.

Review: I heard the author on Dr. Rob Weiss' podcast and liked what he had to say - so I bought his book. I really wanted to like it, but for me, there was far too much of a (Christian) religious perspective and far too much (New Testament) scripture, e.g. how the man should be the spiritual head of the household. I respect that, but it is not what I am looking for. And, I wish that focus/perspective was more apparent in the book's title and description.
