Review: Shocking events have changed Vladimir Tod's life in ways he never could have imagined or expected. Against all odds, the Elysian Council has found Uncle Otis not guilty of crimes against vampire-kind. Vlad hardly has cause to celebrate as he has discovered the whole trial was just an elaborate ruse designed by the evil D'Ablo as a means to bring Vlad before the Council of Elders. Now Vlad has been condemned to death and given one week to put his affairs in order. Once again betrayed by his friend (and vampire slayer) Joss, Vlad was seconds away from ending the young slayer's life when he heard a voice he never thought he'd hear again - his father's.Vlad's not sure if his father is still alive or if he is having hallucinations, but the fact that his father may not be dead has given him a brief reprieve. Em and the Elysian Council are willing to give Vlad until the end of the year to produce Tomås. Of course, even if he can produce his father, he is still likely to face execution. Vlad will need to keep his friends close and his enemies closer if he is to survive the explosive conclusion to his chronicles.Twelfth Grade Kills brings all the best elements of this terrific series together. The blend of Vlad's personal coming of age story with the intrigue and underhanded dealings of the vampire world keeps the reader riveted. The Elysia that Ms. Brewer has created is an interesting, unique take on vampires and their place in modern society. The heart of these stories has always been the characters and I closed this book thinking I would be sorry to let Vlad, Henry, Nelly, Otis and Joss go.

Review: The final book in The Chronicles of Vladimir Tod series picks up where #4 left off; Vlad thinks he's seen his dead father after battling his friend Joss, who happens to be a Slayer sworn to kill Vlad. Vlad's also still going to be put on trial by Elysia for his "crimes" against other vampires and his life is on the line. All in all, things aren't looking too good for our favorite high school vampire senior. Will Vlad be able to recover his father's lost diary in time to use its secret code to exonerate himself? Will Joss find a way not to kill Vlad? Will Vlad ever graduate?Okay, that last question was a bit silly, given all the action packed into #5, but amid everything going on, Vlad still attends school, even if he never expects to graduate. Vlad spends much of this book searching for answers to whether or not he's the Pravus and whether or not his father is indeed still alive (and what that means if he is). It's not a pretty tale, and Vlad's losses are huge. In addition to girlfriend Snow, Vlad's uncle Otis and aunt Nelly are in constant danger, and Vlad's frustration at not being able to stop events fuels much of the action.Recounting the plot would give away too much, so I will say that this is a fitting ending to the quintet, if a disturbing one on many levels. Vlad's got to solve some big problems and he's unsure of where to even begin. While all this is going on, Vlad's dealing with the normal angsts of being a teenager--old loves, new loves, friends, and oh, yeah, a blackmailer. Well, all right, that's not typical, but still...Vlad's got problems. Ms. Brewer does a terrific job of capturing a teen's emotions as she explores his vampiric issues.Rant time: You know how I feel about editors these days, and this book has a few items that should have been caught. Right off the bat (pun intended) on page six, there are two instances of "had drank". Once I could overlook; twice and it's a problem for this reader. It also occurs later in the book so someone should have been paying closer attention. Also, there's an instance where Vlad "slunked" down the hall. Slunk is past tense itself. And yes, I know this is picky, but I care. Someone should.This final book is well written and engaging, if a little rushed toward the end. There are no pretty little bows to tie up everything (and I'd have been disappointed had there been). And that ending? Let's just say I don't think we've seen the last of Vlad. I'll be looking forward to it.

Review: I was in the seventh grade with this final book came out, and after having re-read it over this past couple weeks, it’s still just as entertaining. I really hope we get a sequel series (College Sucks, or something along those lines) Just to see what Snow’s eyes mean. After all, Em and Eddie are still alive (unless Slayer Chronicles does something with them, I’m about to start that series) But I love this series, and I’m eager to see if anything else comes of it.

Review: It is a slightly different version of teen life, if you are a vampire. There is plausible romance and some of it actually makes sense rather than other forced storylines in other trendy stories. My kids have read the series and like that the story actually makes sense.

Review: Beware there are spoilers ahead....This is the 5th and final book in the Vladimir Tod series, and it was good. The loose ends were tied up and questions all answered. I knew from the first book that Tomas Tod wasn't really dead, it just didn't fit. And when he appears to Vlad in this book I knew right away he wasn't all he pretended to be. I'm happy Vlad and Joss finally came to agreement, although I must say I never liked Joss much. Henry is still the best friend a vamp could have. I was sad Nelly died, she was such a big part of this series, it seemed kind of cruel to make Vlad lose 2 mothers. I was totally blown away by Vikas' betrayal, I never expected him to turn on Vlad the way he did. It's good Snow isn't really dead, that was just too much if she was.Like the previous 4 books this is a page turner. I read this in 2 sittings. I feel this is a great series for both adults and teens alike. If you are looking for an excellent vampire series, minus all the mushy romance of so many books, this is the series for you.

Review: This book brought me plenty of joy, and lots of sadness. It brought me joy in a way since it was so interesting, and brought me sadness because it was the last book of the last series. It had the perfect plot for the ending and wouldn't have ever seen it coming. I read it all in one sitting because it was so exiting, with the right amount of everything. It wasn't too heated with violence or sexual content. It was a perfectly written book.
