Title: Woman's fight for freedom portrayed as a betrayal

Review: When Talia describes her escape attempt as a "betrayal," I was done with this book. It is basically another story in which the female lead is portrayed as NEEDING the feel remorse for trying to stand up for herself, needing to apologize for trying to take control of her life, for trying to be free from captivity, manipulation, and exploitation, and should be sorry her attempts at freedom make things harder for the man/men.

The "nicer" fae are still usurping Talia's human rights, which no matter the excuse/reason IS NOT their right to do; they have still stolen her life, have irradicated her personal agency in almost ALL aspects of her life, to treat her as a thing only of value insofar as it betters their own situation, no better than a well cared for slave or livestock. No matter the amenities, a complete lack of freedom and life agency is still servitude and imprisonment -- a guilded cage is still a cage. She should just be okay, or heck even grateful, that they're nice while using her as a walking pharmaceudical dispensary so they have "control" over one facet of their lives, while stealing ALL of the control she has over her own life and future? So in essence what the author is saying is that the men's lives are more important than the woman's -- that she should make all of the sacrifices to make their lives whole and accept any scraps of care, control or agency they are willing to allow her so that they can live their best lives regardless of what it it means to what she might have wanted for herself.

Naw, just no. What a load of steaming deficant. Her rights are just as important as theirs, her wants are just as important as theirs. Her trying to stand up for her own rights is nothing that she should apologize for and is no kind of betrayal of the scraps of kindness from kidnapping exploitive selfish troglodytic males.

This is not romantic, just Stockholm syndrome wrapped in internalized misogyny made to make women feel like their wants and desires and rights are not as important as a (attractive &/or wealthy) man's, that they themselves are less than men, and should be glad when males deign to give the least bit of care despite trampling a female's every right in between. Ugh, I want real, truly strong female characters that never apologize for standing up for themselves, for taking care of themselves, and for fighting for their rights.

Title: Boring. Disconnected characters,

Review: This is my fourth attempt at reading this book, and I finally forced myself to finish it. I have read Eva Chase before and have liked her stuff.
The here characters could stand to have a bit more personality. All the characters are in desperate need of fleshing out. Honestly it just seemed as though Eva was just "oh I guess I'll toss I. This guy with this standard issue antihero attitude. Spoilers:
This story are so underdeveloped. I could not find any romantic It was creepy hearing one of Talias' abductors describe her bones protruding, but also he's attracted to her? I don't know. I understand fast paced, but I mean seriously. Talia was just taken from a different person and now they want her. She isn't even healed. She's been living in a cage for EIGHT years ffs. I don't know, read it if you can, but Talia seems to be a naive characterization of an abused woman. And the plot, my Zeus! What happened? Oh a whole Lotta nothing. Maybe you could try again?

Title: A surprise hit!

Review: This book popped up in my recommended titles. I had not heard of this author or series, but the cover caught my eye. So I took a chance on it even though I don't typically read this genre, and I actually enjoyed it a lot! The story was pretty solid and the steamy scenes were well done. Love Talia, her strength and resilience, and I think August is my favorite fae/wolf with his sweet, gentle nature. I'm looking forward to getting to know this world and these characters even more in the sequels. The ending hints at some exciting action to come! Anyway, if you're looking for something quick and fun to read, definitely check it out!
