Review: I liked this story but I can't say that I loved it. It just didn't pull me in as much as I was hoping. Even with good backgrounds of different locations, history and clothing.
It did have good main characters with definite challenges placed in front of them getting to their H.E.A. Plenty of misunderstandings and people working for THEIR own agenda. Sweet, gentle, trusting Lily gets roped into more than one person's agenda. Take, Mrs. Bennington for instance. Now there was one cold, snooty, controlling, social climbing "witch". I just kept waiting for her to stick her greedy "knife" in Lily's back.
It's a good thing that Lily does have some people in her corner. Even though there was a time or two that it took a bit of time for what she needed to be conveyed to them. It also took Edward a while to wake up to the fact that he had feelings for Lily. He was also a man of honor so he also struggled with that too.

One thing that I did notice was that Lily sure spent a fair amount of her time packing and unpacking from one place to another for awhile.
There is at least two surprise twists towards the end of the story. And a quick look at Lily's life afterwards, which I did enjoy.
I am giving it 3.5 Stars on Amazon for some of the good things.

Review: Although the story plot was unique and would appeal those who want a sweet story, this reader would not classify it a romance nor an historical. The writing could have used an editor to tighten up the writing, create transitions from scene to scene within a chapter and time to time within in a scene and from chapter to chapter. Although there was the expected HEA, the romance was lacking believability because there was no sexual tension, there was just no romance, no basic courting and no this writer is not talking about sex, but the small intense attractions and the acting on those expected in a romance or historical. The romance was just not believable because the author never gave us a true picture of the attraction. There was also too much telling, very little introspection of what the protagonists were feeling i reaction to events, that is how readers can identify with the character and though likable we didn't really get to know them. The characters could have been more interesting if they had been developed more within the plot and dialogue, too often they sounded like modern day individuals with modern words nit used in that period, which led this reader to lose interest in a book that should have been more historical in the dialoge. Lastly there were elements of the history of the time that just was incorrect, such as knowing that a Sir is a knight and not really part of the peerage, and that knighthood is not an inherited title so we don't know why her father was a knight. There were other historical elements that this reader had problems with but for the sake of not revealing spoilers won't reveal here.

This story will appeal to those who like a light uncomplicated read with no sexual intimacy, however most hard core romance readers probably will be disappointed in a book that is more tell than show, and that has few elements expected of todays historical romances. The three stars are for an average read that could have used a good editor to catch the misspelled and wrong tense words and to cut it a more manageable plot and length while tightening the story and writing. ..

Review: I enjoyed this book quite a bit. It was a good story in the vein of Jane Austen. The story carried itself, without the need for trashy language or graphic sex scenes to sell it. I enjoyed the historical detail and some of it was quite unique. I've never read a story that referenced the Greek-Ottoman wars, so I learned something too. I really enjoyed the different characters, and the hero was a good guy, not the bad boy hero of so many books today. I did feel the book could use a little more proof-reading for some errors, but it certainly wasn't enough to take away from the story. My only criticism would be that it seemed rushed at the end. It seemed that once the book reached the climax, the rest was written like the epilogue. Still, I enjoyed it, and would read more by this author.

Review: This book was fun to read, with the right balance of romance and intrigue. For me, it was a page turner.

However, it would need some editing. Some parts seem to be written in a hurry, with spelling mistakes and repetitions, and there are grammar mistakes, especially in the use of verb tenses.

But in my opinion, its main flaw remains language: characters who are supposed to be from 19th century England speak as if they were born in 21st century America. Even if the author throws in a few fancy words here and there, it doesn't work.

If you can overlook frequent anachronisms in language and attitudes, you might enjoy this book. But if historical accuracy matters to you, I wouldn't recommend it.

N.B. The ending was a little too much for me.

Review: talking about bad luck! Lily was to young to remember her parents, lost to her in a war in Greece. The gypsies found her and raised her. Once she found who she was, a series of events have her go thru some years until she is reunited with the parents. Edward met her when she was staying with the gypsies and life kept trowing them together meeting after meeting and thru those events. a little misunderstanding here, people that want to rob her of her inheritance there, until all is resolve on a way very unique..

With every word I was able to imagine everything, especially the emotions flowing from happiness to despair to hope and overflowing love. Anyone can read this young and young at heart. This is a keeper to be read again and again!
