Lagos Breakfast Meeting:Gov Otu seeks investment in Cross River through Carnival Calabar & Festival

The governor of Cross River State, Senator Prince Edet Bassey Otu has called on key players in corporate Nigeria to take advantage of opportunties in the state and leverage on them for business.

The governor made the call in Lagos on Friday, November 3, 2023 while addressing a cross section of top business executives during a breakfast meeting ahead of the 2023 Carnival Calabar & Festival.

The breakfast meeting, hosted by the Gabe Onah led Cross River Carnival Commission and Mary Ephraim led Okhma Events, lead marketers of the carnival, gave top management officials of multinationals a first hand experience of Cross River state. Mr. Gabe Onah, expressed the state government's willingness to grow the tourism sector, calling on investors to see the state as an investment destination of choice .

In attendance were CEOs of blue chip companies, an elder statesman & leader of Seagull Band, Senator Florence Ita Giwa, and the wife of the former governor of Cross River State, Mrs Donald Duke, who is the leader of Bayside Band.

The marketing drive on the Lagos trip is a part of calculated efforts by the governor to foster public-private partnership and attract investors to the state.

In its 19th edition, Carnival Calabar & Festival is the biggest street party in Africa, for the coming one, the governor promises that it is going to be electrifying.

"Your presence here speaks volume of your confidence and support for my administration. I don't take that for granted at all. For those of you willing to do business in Cross River State, we assure you of every incentive and support to do business including tax holidays and lots more.

"For all the banks, manufacturers, and every other businesses willing to come to our state, we assure you of great opportunities to make good fortunes in terms of fantastic government policy, regulations and conducive business environment," the governor assured.

Governor Otu expressed his administration's determination to create an enabling environment for all businesses to thrive.

"We are out to raise the bar in our tourism offerings, next year, we'll get better and there will be phenomenal increase in our content" Prince Otu said.

In a chat with press men he said, 'there's a reintroduction of the Children's Carnival and we are very excited about it, it must be a day that is also very memorable in their life, so that when they grow they will share the fun memories.'

Moreso, it will enable us create content to accommodate everyone.

The governor stated that the state is blessed to have all three gateways, land, air and sea, asides being blessed with fertile land and natural resources. He took time to react to questions from the CEOs and assured them of investment security, tax rebate and holidays for investors in a bid to boost local economy and create employment.

On the carnival this year, he boasted that there's a lot to wet the taste buds of visitors, inviting them to harness natural resources and explore the state's rich tourism and historical assets.

The vote of thanks by the commissioner for tourism, arts and culture, Hon. Abubakar Ewa drew the curtain on an eventful interactions and ushered the guests to brunch.
