The Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) Hub at the University of Calabar marked a significant milestone today, Sunday 29th October 2023 as team members led an outreach initiative to Lemna, a central point for waste disposal in Calabar, where numerous street kids reside.

In alignment with the spirit of the Sustainable Development Goals, the SDG UNICAL hub took the initiative to provide essential writing materials to the street kids. Books, pens, pencils, erasers, and sharpeners were distributed, emphasizing the team's belief that every child, irrespective of their background, deserves access to education and a healthy living environment.

The team, motivated by the urgency of the situation, documented the current state of the location through photographs. While security concerns prevented capturing moments of joy during the material distribution, the images highlight the challenging conditions these street kids endure.

In a plea for support, the SDG Hub emphasizes the immediate need for better living conditions and standard amenities for these vulnerable children. The images of Lemna speak volumes, urging the community to come together and make a difference in the lives of these youngsters.

As we welcome a new month, the SDG Hub at the University of Calabar encourages individuals, organizations, and the wider community to join hands in supporting initiatives that promote education and better living conditions for the less privileged.
