Review: Hope After Stroke for Caregivers and Survivors is a value added resource. I’m the only caregiver for my in my in Ohio. I refer to this book when I get stuck and looking for a solution to a problem and to see the Author has most likely addressed the issue is comforting and affirming. Once I had a question about something in the book so I placed a call to the provided number, I thought I’d get a phone service or something . I got a call directly to my voicemail from the Author. I was so encouraged by her caring enough to call me. It meant a lot !!!

Review: My brother had a stroke that affected his speech. He can’t remember how to form words but he gets close. I went ahead and bought us two books, and a couple of other books with similar subject. He’s always been an avid reader, and he told me that your book is his favorite. He says the narrative sounds like a personal conversation. Now, he uses it as a tool and reference.

Review: I highly recommend this book for both patients and caregivers. It will provide you with the information and resources you and your body need for the most holistic approach to healing from a critical illness. I didn't have a stroke, yet this book spoke to me on so many levels about the healing journey, healing the mind (which is highly important) and providing your body what it needs to recover from a neurological injury. I was paralyzed, tube fed and left without a means to communicate. As a Speech Pathologist, I found that I learned a lot from reading this book that I didn't know about the rehabilitation journey. It is filled with resources and information to further your knowledge base that medical professionals are not trained on or don't have the time to discuss with their patients. I will encourage everyone I come in contact with (patients, caregivers) as a Speech Pathologist to read this. It is encouraging and helps you feel not so alone in the rehab world. Please do yourself and your family a favor and purchase this. I can't emphasize that enough.

Review: We purchased this book after my father had a stroke this past February. We were completely caught off guard and had no idea what to expect or what might happen. This book is an INCREDIBLE resource and it helped us not only understand what was currently happening, but also how to prepare to help Dad with his recovery. Another REALLY helpful part of this book is learning how to advocate for a stroke survivor. There are so many resources listed at the end of the book, many of which we have utilized and have been extremely helpful. We are so grateful to have come across this book and to have had access to all of this information. It is a must read!!

Review: I am healing from a TBI/concussion and Hope After Stroke was recommended to me. While I am suffering from a more milder version of a brain injury vs a stroke, everything in this book helped me understand my path towards healing. It's an approachable and easy to read book that is part science, part coach, part hope, part realistic how-to, and packed with science, information, facts, positive inspiration, ideas and most importantly practical, executable strategies and tactics to progress and heal. I love that each chapter is easy to digest, with clear information designed to help you not only understand, but HOW to take the steps to heal! My favorite portions are the frequently asked questions for each topic, links and tools and that the chapters all end with a bullet point wrap up called Essential Answers: What Makes it Better! Note, my husband read me important parts of the book in the beginning because I could not read during the worst of my concussion, and I am now able to not only read it but to write a review! I am so grateful!! I highly recommend this book.

Review: I am reviewing this book from two points of view
1. As a rehab professional and physical therapist that works with people who have suffered strokes each day
2. As a son whose mother had a stroke less than two months ago

I purchased this book shortly after my mother had a stroke in 2019 as a resource for myself, and my family members and I highly recommend it for anyone who is dealing with family members who have suffered a stroke.

The author is a Speech and Language Pathologist who has been working for 25 years helping people who have had a stroke and the experience, information, and understanding that she brings out in this book is invaluable.

The author takes her time to educate the reader on what is really happening with a stroke, the different types and what is happening inside the body and then gives guidelines to help with recovery.

What I appreciated the most was the ability to explain complicated concepts in an easy to understand way while still projecting a feeling of hope and recovery.

I feel that I have a good understanding of stroke and recovery but I still learned a great deal in this book and was able to help share a great deal of knowledge with the rest of my family as we all went through this together.

So as both a rehab professional and a family member/caregiver, I give this book my highest recommendation and I hope that this book gets to as many people as possible
