I, Amb. Jerry Odey, State Chairman of Cross River State Youth In Politics For Good Governance, on behalf of the entire leadership and members of our organization, strongly condemn in strongest terms, the inordinate, disrespectful and unguarded comments made by Mr. Dennis Odama on the official Facebook Page of His Excellency, Sen. Prince Bassey Edet Otu, Governor of Cross River State.

Such indecent comment is alien to our state, whose culture and value spans from good family upbringing and rooted in our respect for elders and constituted authorities.

First, It is very uncalled for to address the number one citizen of the state who is the Chief Executive, in such derogatory manner.

This, coming from a youth, does not represent the character, values and respectful disposition of the general youths of our dear state.

We wish to state categorically that:

1. We dissociate Cross River State Youths from the said comments. 2. We reaffirm our total support and loyalty to the People First administration of His Excellency, Sen. Prince Bassey Edet Otu. 3. We advise all youths to use social media responsibly and to channel grievances or opinions through civil, constructive and lawful means.

While we condemn his actions in totality, we wish to humbly plead with the Government of Cross River State and all relevant authorities to temper justice with mercy and consider his release on compassionate grounds. We believe he has learnt his lessons and will be of better conduct going forward.

We appeal to all youths to remain calm, law-abiding and supportive of this government for the good of our dear State and our people!
