Renowned Human Rights Lawyer Frank Tietie Confirms Participation at IHRC Int’l Youth Summit 2026

A renowned Nigerian human rights lawyer, public interest advocate, and Executive Director of the Citizens Advocacy for Social and Economic Rights (CASER), Barr. Frank Tietie, has confirmed his participation as a keynote resource person at the International Youth Summit 2026, organised by the International Human Rights Commission - IHRC Corporation / INTERPOL Center USA, Nigeria Mission, through its Special Monitoring Mission (SMM).


The announcement was contained in a statement issued by the National Coordinator, IHRC Special Monitoring Mission (SMM) Nigeria, Comrade Elijah Vitus Echendu, who described Barr. Tietie's participation as a significant addition to the calibre of distinguished speakers expected at the international gathering.


According to Echendu, Barr. Tietie will deliver a keynote presentation on "Human Rights Protection and the Rule of Law as Foundations for National Development," a subjecth considered central to promoting responsible citizenship, justice, accountable governance, and sustainable development.


He noted that Barr. Tietie is widely respected for his unwavering commitment to constitutional democracy, public interest litigation, and the advancement of human rights in Nigeria. Through his leadership of the Citizens Advocacy for Social and Economic Rights (CASER), he has consistently championed access to justice, transparency, accountability, social justice, and the protection of fundamental freedoms.


"His wealth of experience in constitutional law, humanitarian advocacy, and public policy will enrich the quality of conversations at the Summit and provide valuable insights for young leaders, policymakers, civil society actors, and participants from different parts of the world," Echendu stated.


The International Youth Summit 2026, scheduled to hold virtually on Friday, 14 August 2026, is being organised in commemoration of International Youth Day under the theme: "The Stolen Future: Reclaiming Hope for the Next Generation."


The Summit is expected to bring together distinguished national and international speakers, diplomats, human rights experts, academics, development partners, media professionals, youth leaders, and civil society organisations to examine practical strategies for strengthening youth leadership, human rights, education, innovation, entrepreneurship, peacebuilding, and sustainable development.


The Commission reaffirmed its commitment to providing a credible platform that empowers young people, promotes constructive dialogue, and advances collaborative solutions to contemporary challenges confronting the next generation.
