Occupational therapy is a form of healthcare that assists patients of any age group to enhance or recover the skills necessary for carrying out daily activities. This type of therapy aims at promoting independence and improving the lives of those affected by physical, mental, developmental, and sensory disabilities.
For children, occupational therapy will be useful in case of developmental delays, autism spectrum disorder, sensory processing disorders, learning problems, and difficulties in executing fine motor skills. Adults who have recovered from injuries, strokes, neurological diseases, or any other surgical procedure will equally benefit from occupational therapy services.
Each individual undergoing therapy will undergo an assessment to determine his/her needs, and therapy will be customized based on evidence-based procedures and fun activities. The sessions will include exercising activities aimed at improving coordination between hands and eyes, balancing, strengthening, sensory integration, self-care activities, handwriting, and performing other daily activities. These sessions will be offered in clinic, school, home, and even online and hybrid settings.
Early intervention and continuous therapy will be of great benefit to the patient because he/she will gain a lot of confidence and independence.
