CALABAR, CROSS RIVER STATE – In a significant move to promote youth leadership, civic participation, women's empowerment, and sustainable community development, the reigning Miss Politics Nigeria, HRM Theresa Ukung, paid a courtesy visit to the Deputy Governor of Cross River State, during which she presented him with an Award of Excellence in recognition of his outstanding commitment to youth development, inclusive governance, and the empowerment of women in the state.

The visit formed part of Miss Politics Nigeria's ongoing strategic engagement with key government stakeholders to foster partnerships that will drive impactful advocacy programmes across Cross River State.

The Miss Politics Nigeria delegation included Mr. Ronel Manuel Bassey, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Miss Politics Nigeria; Mr. Hope Ofem, General Manager, Miss Politics Nigeria; Mr. Ekpenyong Nsa, Manager, Miss Politics Nigeria; Mr. Ettah Emmanuel O., Media and Publicity Officer; and Miss Favour Uduak Isaiah, Chaperone.

During the meeting, HRM Theresa Ukung expressed appreciation to the Deputy Governor for the warm reception and commended the Cross River State Government for its continued commitment to youth development, women's participation in leadership, and inclusive governance. She noted that the Miss Politics Nigeria platform extends beyond beauty, serving as a vehicle for advocacy, civic responsibility, leadership development, and meaningful social impact.

She also unveiled her flagship advocacy initiatives, "Operation Get Your PVC" and "Pad-a-Girl-Child," campaigns designed to encourage young Nigerians to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and actively participate in the democratic process while addressing menstrual hygiene challenges through the distribution of sanitary pads and educational awareness programmes for vulnerable girls.

To ensure the successful implementation of these initiatives across communities in Cross River State, she appealed for logistical and mobility support that would enable her team to effectively reach more beneficiaries.

In his response, the Deputy Governor commended the initiatives, describing them as timely interventions that align with the state's vision of empowering young people, PVC Registrations, and supporting sustainable community development. He reaffirmed the government's commitment to partnering with credible youth-driven initiatives that create lasting social impact.

Both parties emphasized the importance of collaboration between government institutions, civil society organizations, and youth advocates in addressing societal challenges and creating opportunities for inclusive growth and sustainable development.

The courtesy visit concluded with a renewed commitment to strengthening partnerships that will inspire young people to become active participants in governance, leadership, and nation-building while improving the lives of women and girls across Cross River State.

The engagement forms part of Miss Politics Nigeria's nationwide advocacy tour aimed at mobilizing strategic partnerships with public and private institutions to deliver impactful programmes that promote civic consciousness, democratic participation, gender equity, and youth empowerment across Nigeria.
