The vision that led to the establishment of the University of Education and Entrepreneurship (UEE), Akamkpa, Cross River State, continues to yield remarkable dividends. The institution has now secured approval from the National Universities Commission (NUC) to commence fourteen (14) additional academic programmes.

This development builds on the earlier approval of thirty-two (32) programmes, bringing the total number of NUC approved programmes in the University to forty-six (46) with a dual mode of operation and certification, namely, the Academic and Entrepreneurship routes respectively.

This latest achievement represents a significant milestone in the rapid growth of the University and serves as a strong validation of the foresight, courage, and educational transformation agenda of His Excellency, Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu, Governor of Cross River State and Visitor to the University.

On 8 January 2025, Governor Otu etched his name into the annals of educational development in Cross River State when he assented to the law establishing the UEE, Akamkpa, thereby transforming the former Cross River State College of Education into a full-fledged university.

At the time, the decision was widely regarded as a bold investment in the future of education, human capital development, and economic advancement.

Today, the fruits of that visionary decision are becoming increasingly evident.

The approval follows a successful resource verification exercise conducted by the NUC on 30 May 2026, during which the University's academic infrastructure, manpower, learning facilities, and overall readiness were rigorously evaluated and found suitable for the commencement of the proposed programmes.

The newly approved programmes are:

• B.Sc. Accounting

• B.Sc. Business Administration

• B.Sc. Public Administration

• B.Sc. Hospitality and Tourism Management

• B.Sc. Marketing

• B.Sc. Agribusiness

• B.Sc. Mass Communication

• B.Sc. Social Work

• D.PT. Physiotherapy

• B.MLS. Medical Laboratory Science

• B.Rad. Radiography

• B.Sc. Public Health

• B.N.Sc. Nursing Science

• B.Sc. Computer Science

The approval substantially expands the University's academic landscape and further consolidates its emergence as a vibrant centre of excellence in teaching, research, innovation, entrepreneurship, and professional development. It also positions UEE to play an even greater role in producing highly skilled graduates capable of meeting the demands of a rapidly evolving global economy.

Beyond broadening academic opportunities for prospective students, this accomplishment stressed the effectiveness of the University's leadership and the firvent commitment of its Governing Council, Management, Senate, and staff to the pursuit of excellence.

The University Management has announced that admission into the newly approved programmes for the 2026/2027 Academic Session will commence immediately.

Candidates who scored 150 and above in the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) are therefore encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity and become part of one of Nigeria's fastest-growing institutions of higher learning.

As UEE continues to expand its academic frontiers, this landmark approval reinforces the wisdom of Governor Otu's decision to establish the institution and affirms the University's growing reputation as a symbol of knowledge, innovation, entrepreneurship, and academic distinction.

Warm congratulations to His Excellency, Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu, Governor of Cross River State and Visitor to the University; the Prof. Susan Etim-led Governing Council; the Prof. Patrick N. Asuquo-led Management; the Senate, Staff, Students, Alumni, and all stakeholders of the University of Education and Entrepreneurship, Akamkpa, on this historic accomplishment.

Indeed, what began as a vision is steadily maturing into a legacy.

The journey of excellence continues.
