Edet Okon Effiom & Executive members Promotes Voter Education in Calabar Schools_ On March 18, 2025, the Interparty Advisory Council (IPAC) of Nigeria carried out an impactful outreach initiative by visiting secondary schools across Calabar Municipal and Calabar South. The schools included in the visit were West Africa People’s Institute (WAPI) and Atu Government Secondary School.

The visit was aimed at fostering civic responsibility and educating students on the importance of political engagement, particularly in the areas of voter registration and awareness. The highlight of the visit was a special presentation led by the IPAC Chairman, Engr. Edet Okon Effiom, along with other members of the IPAC Executive Committee. During the visit, the IPAC team distributed educational books to the students.

These books were specifically designed to inform students about the various political parties in Nigeria, the significance of voting, and the importance of being an informed and active participant in the democratic process. The primary message delivered was the need for young people, especially those 18 years and older, to register as voters and actively participate in upcoming elections.

Engr. Edet Okon Effiom took the opportunity to address the students, emphasizing the power and responsibility that comes with voting. He explained how their involvement in the electoral process could influence the direction of the nation and urged them to start thinking critically about the importance of making informed voting decisions.

The principals and students at both West Africa People’s Institute (WAPI) and Atu Govt Secondary School Calabar expressed their gratitude for the informative visit, acknowledging the value of the educational resources provided and the importance of understanding the political process at an early age. The students were eager to engage in discussions on the political landscape, and many expressed their interest in becoming registered voters once they reached the legal voting age 18.

In addition to the visit, IPAC also extended their appreciation to the Governor of Cross River State, Apostle Sen. Prince Bassey Otu, and the distinguished Chief of Staff, Hon. Emmanuel Ironbar for their continued support for youth development and civic engagement in the state. IPAC recognized their commitment to fostering a better Cross River and promoting a well-informed, active citizenry.
