The Hope Waddell Training Institute Old Boys Association in Calabar has officially launched a N1 billion Legacy Fund. This initiative aims to support indigent but brilliant students preparing for the JAMB and WAEC exams, enabling them to continue their education and proceed to university. Mr. Efio Ita-Ephraim, the National President of the association, provided details about the fund during the opening of the Old Boys Association’s 130th anniversary celebration in Calabar. He explained that the Legacy Fund would assist students whose families lack the financial means to support their education, ensuring that they can stay in school rather than face expulsion due to financial hardship. The fund will also be used to address the pressing infrastructural needs of the institution. Some facilities, such as the ICT center, which has recently been upgraded by the North American branch of the Old Boys Association, will be improved.

Ita-Ephraim mentioned the importance of restoring the Cambridge examination center, which had been lost in the past due to inadequate facilities. With the upgraded infrastructure, Hope Waddell Training Institution has regained its status as a Cambridge examination center.

Additionally, the association is constructing a new seating arena with a capacity of 500 people, which will also serve as a revenue-generating project for the school. The Old Boys Association is also working on publishing another volume of its alumni record, the first of which was released in 1984.
