HON. AGNES ATSU APPLAUDS CROSS RIVER VOLLEYBALL TEAM FOR SILVER MEDAL WIN IN BAYELSA

Agnes Atsu, has warmly welcomed and commended the Calabar Canaan Volleyball Team for making Cross River State proud at the recently concluded Invitational Volleyball Challenge hosted by Major General Gagariga (Rtd.) in Bayelsa State. The team, led by Dr. Charles T. Diderot, Chairman and sole sponsor, alongside Coach Edet A. and Coach Eyo Etim,

showcased outstanding skills and resilience, securing a silver medal after a competition. Their remarkable performance not only brought glory to the state but also earned them multiple group and individual awards at the tournament. Hon. Agnes Atsu, expressing her delight, praised the team’s dedication and competitive spirit, highlighting that their achievement aligns with the vision of His Excellency, Apostle Senator Bassey Otu, who is committed to fostering youth participation in sports and ensuring Cross River remains a force in national and international competitions.

As a token of appreciation, the Commissioner presented a letter of Appreciation on behalf of the state government to the team’s chairman and announced a cash reward of ₦200,000 to the players. She encouraged them to see this victory as a stepping stone and begin preparations for the upcoming NDDC Sports Festival in Uyo. Adding to the commendations, the Special Adviser on Sports Development to the Governor, Mr. Ekanem Ekpenyong, expressed gratitude to the team for their hard work and

urged them to remain focused on continuous improvement for even greater success in future tournaments. The Permanent Secretary, Mr. Samuel Egbala, also showered praises on the team for their incredible feat, emphasizing that their performance reflects the state's growing investment in sports development.

The Calabar Canaan Volleyball Team’s journey to success in Bayelsa has further solidified Cross River’s reputation as a breeding ground for talented athletes, and with the backing of dedicated stakeholders, they are poised for even greater achievements in the future.
