As preparations intensify for the inaugural Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) Sports Festival scheduled for April in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, the Honorable Commissioner for Sports Development, Cross River State, Hon. Agnes Atsu, has officially inaugurated the State Liaison Committee and the Technical Sub-Committee to ensure the state's successful participation in the event.

The inauguration, done on behalf of His Excellency, Apostle Sen. Prince Bassey Edet Otu, marks a significant step in the state's commitment to identifying and mobilizing the best talents, particularly from grassroots communities, to represent Cross River.

COMMISSIONER’S CHARGE TO THE COMMITTEES

While inaugurating the committees, Hon. Agnes Atsu emphasized the state’s ambition to win the competition rather than just participate. She charged the committees to focus on scouting the best athletes from rural areas, ensuring that the state fields top talents who can compete favorably and bring home laurels.

“Team Cross River is going to Uyo not just to participate but to win. We must search deeply, especially in the rural communities, to select the best players who will make the state proud,"she stated.

THE COMMITTEES PLEDGE FULL COMMITMENT

In response, Hon. Ekanem Ekpenyong, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Sports Development and Chairman of the technical sub-Committee assured that the team would give its best efforts in assembling, training, and preparing the state's delegation for the competition.

Similarly, Mr. Moses Agbor,

Director of Sports, Chairman NDSF Cross River liaison Committee . pledged that the committee would mobilize and develop the best talents to ensure a strong representation for Cross River at the event.

Expressing her excitement,

Queen Gladys Festus. Representative of the NDDC and Secretary of the CRS state liaison Committee. noted that she was delighted to be part of the process, assuring that the committee would deliver outstanding athletes who will make Team Cross River proud.

• CROSS RIVER’S DETERMINATION FOR SUCCESS

The inaugural NDDC Sports Festival is expected to bring together athletes from various states within the Niger Delta region to compete in different sporting categories. With the commitment and expertise of the inaugurated committees, Cross River is set to dominate the competition and make a lasting impression on the national sports scene.

As preparations continue, all eyes will be on Team Cross River, as they strive to bring glory to the state at the upcoming festival in April.
