Hazrat Ibrahim (AS), also known as Abraham in other monotheistic religions, is a prophet in Islam who is considered the father of monotheism.
Early life
Born in the ancient city of Ur of the Chaldees, which is likely present-day Iraq
His father, Azar, was an idol maker
Ibrahim questioned the idols his father made and eventually destroyed them
Journey to Allah
Heard a voice from Allah commanding him to submit and become a Muslim
Was filled with great peace after receiving this command
The story of the sacrifice
God commanded Ibrahim to sacrifice his son, Ismail
Ibrahim was deeply disturbed by the dreams and confided in Ismail
Ismail comforted his father and encouraged him to follow Allah's commands
Ibrahim blindfolded himself and carried out the slaughter on Mount Arafat
When he removed his blindfold, he saw that Ismail was safe beside him, and a ram was in place of Ismail
Legacy
Considered one of the greatest men in history
Mentioned in all three Holy books
