The sociopolitical organization Cross Riverians for Bassey Otu has commended the Governor of Cross River State, Senator Bassey Otu, for his strategic steps toward enhancing the state’s educational sector through recent appointments.
The group expressed admiration for the appointment of Professor Francisca Bassey as the Acting Vice Chancellor of the University of Cross River State (UNICROSS). They described the decision as visionary, underscoring the governor’s commitment to academic excellence and the growth of the state’s tertiary education.
The organization also hailed the governor for constituting the university’s Governing Council and appointing Ntufam Fidelis Ugbo as its Chairman. They emphasized that this move is pivotal for ensuring effective governance and elevating the institution’s standards.
Speaking on behalf of the group, its National Coordinator, Obonganwan Gnarly Eyo, praised Governor Otu for his leadership and dedication to education. “Governor Bassey Otu has once again demonstrated foresight by prioritizing education and appointing competent individuals to key positions. Professor Francisca Bassey, Ntufam Fidelis Ugbo, and the Governing Council members are well-qualified to lead UNICROSS to greater heights,” she said.
Obonganwan Eyo further reaffirmed the group’s unwavering support for the Governor’s administration and called on all stakeholders, both within and outside the state, to collaborate in advancing Cross River’s educational objectives in line with the governor’s People First mantra and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
The group also urged the newly appointed officials to justify the trust placed in them by working tirelessly to transform UNICROSS into a hub of academic excellence.
