The political landscape in Yakurr is witnessing a significant power tussle, with various stakeholders vying for dominance. At the center of this struggle is Honorable Cyril James Omini, a lawmaker representing Yakurr 1 Constituency. Despite his notable achievements and commitment to his constituents, Hon. Omini faces opposition from certain quarters.

The recent shift in loyalty and leadership in Yakurr's politics has led to a realignment of forces, with some stakeholders allegedly meeting to shape a new political direction for 2025. However, this realignment is not without controversy, as some have questioned whether it is against the political interests of Governor Bassey Edet Otu.

Hon. Omini's actions over the past 17 months have demonstrated his commitment to his constituents, including the distribution of multi-million naira worth of writing materials to children in his constituency, WAEC registration for over a 100 students, purchase of JAMB forms for his Constituents, payment of law school fees for over 10 law students, empowering market woman, supporting SME'S amongst many others.

He's leadership qualities have earned him recognition and accolades from stakeholders, including the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Cross River State.

Despite these achievements, Hon. Omini faces criticism from some quarters, with some accusing him of poor judgment and disregard for his constituency's expectations.

However, it is essential to recognize that Hon. Omini's commitment to his constituents and his leadership qualities will ultimately prevail.

The attempt to undermine Hon. Omini's influence will likely fail due to his strong connection with his constituents and his demonstrated ability to deliver on his promises.

As Sam Eno, PhD, aptly put it, "The Yakurr people deserve better than this spectacle of self-aggrandizement". The people of Yakurr will ultimately see through the politics of division and recognize Hon. Omini's genuine commitment to the welfare and well-being of his people...

As Yakurr navigates the complexities of politics and development, it is imperative that the good people of Yakurr LGA rally round a young and futuristic leader like Hon. Omini to foster unity and progress. We all need to come together and work towards a common goal..
