The 2024 Sweet Prince Cup, a secondary school sports event sponsored by Senator Eteng Jones Williams, representing the Central Senatorial District, kicked off at the UJ Esuene Sports Stadium in Calabar. The ceremonial opening was conducted by the Deputy Governor of Cross River State, Rt. Hon. Peter Odey.

On her part, the Commissioner for Sports Development, Hon. Agnes Atsu, stressed the necessity of grassroots sports development to nurture young talents. He highlighted the vital role that athletics play in youth development and community cohesion.

The Sweet Prince Cup 2024 coordinated by the Senior Special Adviser on Sports Development, Hon. Ekanem Ekpenyong Ekpenyong, who expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to oversee the tournament, aimed at reaching out to rural areas through sporting activities. The event concluded with with GOVISCO (Ikom) defeating Purity Foundation (Biase) with a score of 2-1.
