C’RIVER WELCOMES OLYMPIANS OFFIONG EDEM, PATIENCE OKON, AND SPORTS MINISTER WITH WARMTH AND PRIDE

Prince Bassey Edet Otu, Executive Governor of Cross River State, the entire staff of the Cross River State Ministry of Sports Development, and the Cross River State Sports Commission, I, Hon. Agnes Atsu, Commissioner for Sports Development, extend a heartfelt welcome to our esteemed Olympians, Offiong Edem (Table Tennis) and Patience Okon (Athletics), as well as Sen. John Owan Enoh, Minister of Sports Development.

Today is a momentous occasion as we celebrate the remarkable achievements of these athletes who have represented our state on the grand stage of the Paris Olympics 2024. Their dedication, hard work, and commitment have brought honor not only to themselves but also to Cross River State, and for this, we are profoundly grateful. We also express our sincere appreciation to Sen. John Owan Enoh for his unwavering support and leadership in advancing sports excellence in our nation.

His presence here today underscores the importance of unity and collective effort in nurturing our sports talents. We thank God for their safe return in good health—a testament to their resilience and strength. We encourage Offiong Edem ( Table Tennis) and Patience Okon ( Athletics) to continue embodying the spirit of sportsmanship, pushing the boundaries of their potential, and striving for even greater achievements. Your qualifications and accomplishments serve as an inspiration to all,

Especially, the youth of our state who look up to you with admiration and hope. As the Bible teaches us, we should give God the glory in all circumstances. While we may not have fully met our expectations at the Games, we are grateful for the opportunity to qualify and proudly represent Nigeria at the highest level of sports.We pray that God continues to guide and support our athletes, enabling them to excel in future competitions.
