Early Life and Education
Ayesha Omar was born on October 12, 1981, in Lahore, Pakistan. Raised by her mother, a single parent, Ayesha developed a strong, independent character. From a young age, she was inclined toward the performing arts. At just eight years old, she began hosting a show called "Meray Bachpan Kay Din" with Muneeza Hashmi, where she interviewed celebrities about their childhoods.
She graduated from the prestigious National College of Arts (NCA) in Lahore, where she majored in painting. Her passion for theater and charity work flourished during her school years. Ayesha managed school theater productions and engaged in creative work to enhance the theater's progress. She also spent her summers volunteering at the Rising Sun School for children with special needs.
Career in Entertainment
Ayesha Omar's career in entertainment began with her deep interest in music. Despite facing challenges, she pursued lessons in traditional singing and performed with underground rock bands such as Mind Riot and The Cell. Her dedication paid off with hit singles like "Aao" and "Koi To Ho."
Her breakthrough in television came with the teenage comedy "College Jeans," directed by NCA graduate Jawad Bashir. She starred alongside Ali Zafar and other notable TV personalities. This led to hosting the show "Rhythm" for Prime TV, where she interviewed musicians from across Pakistan, including veterans like Arif Lohar and Shazia Manzoor.
Theater and Modeling
Before officially joining NCA, Ayesha acted with Nautanki, NCA’s drama group. Her time at NCA provided ample opportunities to explore performing arts, from modeling in various fashion shows to performing in amateur theater productions in Lahore. She seized every chance to enhance her skills and expand her horizons.
Controversies and Public Image
In 2003, actress Ayesha Omar final NCA project, which included a series of paintings and two semi-nude self-portraits, sparked controversy. She defended her work, stating that the human body is pure and natural, and encouraged viewers to see beyond the obvious.
