Review: I am not sure if I am going to be able to do this book the justice it deserves. My review is based on the audio version, which I loved. Absolutely loved.

I am not even sure where to start, except that I loved Adam. He was not always a nice man, but he loved his wife. Adored her. His love for her dripped off the pages. There was no doubt in the readers minds that he loved her and her leaving him devastated him. He had no idea this was coming.

Adam was a dominant. He lived to dominate. He was very good at it and submissive women wanted him. It was a life he knew and loved. But he also knew he could never love a submissive. He was not built to love one.

Then one day he meets Diana. Strong, independent and willful Diana. He is lost. He falls and falls hard. So he walks away from the dominant he is. They have five years together and he is happy. Or so he thinks.

I loved how C.D. Reiss gave us both POV, but in an original way. The first half of the book is told in Adam's perspective and the second half in Diana's, with sprinkles of both in each. I loved seeing bits of their past and how they lost their way. The love was there, but when one person hides something big from the other, it usually comes back to bite them.

For the first half of the book I was not sure how I felt about Diana. I understand why she left. We know why she left. But she also seemed a bit wishy washy. Not necessarily weak, but indecisive. But as we get her point of view, we see more of where she is coming from.

To be able to move forward once and for all, Adam asks Diana for 30 days to do as he wants, with no exception. Obey him completely and show her the man he truly is. She is not sure if she should do this, but he is willing to give her everything she wants in the divorce if she tries.

But neither was prepared for what they felt, wanted and learned about each other. With everything on the balance, can they learn to love again or break each other apart?

I loved this story. It was the story of a couple who loved fiercely, but lost each other along the way. Its a story about redemption and forgiveness, but also of loss and pain. I was so consumed by this story. Though there are (huge) elements of BDSM, it is really a story of love and loss.

And the supporting characters. UGH, how I hated them. I wanted to throttle Serena! She seemed so innocent when we learn about her through Adam's eyes and then we see her through Diana's eyes. She is trouble.

I absolutely loved this book! The characters, the story, well everything. I was so consumed, I went back and forth on not finishing the audio and just diving in and reading it (as I read faster than listen), but I made myself finish the audio and loved it! And now I am jumping right into the audio of Separation Games! Because that ending just about killed me!

Review: I don't know where to begin. I read this book because another well known author that I respect recommended this book. I couldn't wait to read it. I actually couldn't put it down and if I did, I couldn't stop thinking about the characters.

Adam is so strong and dominating, he happens to be a Dominant. But the more you get to know him, you wonder if he really has his head on straight. He's a mystery to an extent. Closed doors of his life when he met Diana. Became something for her because he thought he loved her. As you read his point of view, you think he is this strong male who rode in on his white horse to save the day. There is so much yet to do.

Diana wants to save her family business and needs Adam's help to get the company back in the black. All Diana has left is her dad, and his health is failing too. Quickly. But her mom and dad's company means the world to her.

Adam and Diana have issues as a married couple. Adam wants one last effort to try and save his marriage. He tried so hard to get Diana to love him again. He takes her to his cabin for thirty days. No interruptions. Just 30 days together. What happens there will change their path forever. Together? Apart? Or just indifferent.

These two characters are so well written. What an incredible story. Their love scenes at the cabin are so hot. The Dom/Sub scenes are exciting. CD Reiss does an incredible job creating characters that make you believe them, care about them and never stop thinking about them. I can't wait to see what happens next. I'm not a fan of cliffhangers so I can't wait to see what's next. I enjoyed the two point of views, especially at the end of the book. I can only hope things turn around for the couple. Just when I thought things might work out... Off to Amazon for the next book.

Review: It’s a good thing that I did not review this book the first time I read it. Can you say “to be continued”, yes consider it a spoiler if you want but I wish I had known that before I read this book the first time. If you’ve ready many of my reviews, you know I HATE the whole “series” craze and I never on-purpose buy a book that is a part of a series without making sure that the series has already been written and published so that I’m not left hanging (ugh, don’t even get me started on the series I read this past summer in which I started to buy book 3 of a trilogy only to find that it was unavailable for purchase but books 1,2 and oh yeah, 4,5,6 & 7 were all available on kindle.) That didn’t happen here and to be honest, I immediately pre-ordered book two when I finished this one, cussing through the entire transaction, then I refused to read book 2 for eleven months while I stewed in my anger. That, of course, required that I read book 1 again so that I remembered where it left off, you know, that cliff hanger that I’m still bitter about.

That said. These characters. I love them. I want to strangle them. They are emotional train wrecks and just keep tripping over themselves and their tangled history/baggage. The internal monologues, which I admit some may find interminable, I found to be fascinating insights into two very confused people. I usually find storytelling that flashes back to previous events in history irritating but for some reason it really worked for me in this book. I won’t complain at all. It was purposefully and beautifully done to illustrate points and draw such interesting psychological and emotional parallels. I also enjoyed the fact that the first part of the book was told from the point of view of Adam and the second part of the book is told from the point of view of Diana. The feelings of both main characters were so beautifully illustrated with prose that just flowed off the page at me.

Normally I would probably say something about these characters at this point, what I liked about them and their relationship but I really think that you need to read that coming from them, from their own points of view. I will say that they are both strong, mature, professional adults and while they may not make the best decisions or always communicate as well as they should, I did not have my usual problem of having a young female heroine who was TSTL and that is always enough to get a decent rating from me but not enough to warrant reading the book again, and I guarantee you that even though I just finished this book for the 2nd time, it will be on my read again list.
