Review: Larry Chen Seattle Police Detective and Dave Brunell, Prosecutors are called to the scene of a murder, well that isn't different from the previous 13 books, but when the brother of the the murder victim tells them "by tomorrow I'll have an alibi" your interest picks up. This was different for sure and sure keeps the reader turning the pages.

Review: I'm glad that Penner has returned his character to Seattle and to a criminal case.. Penner lost me with his character's travels to Hollywood and into politics, and a general absence of the cool philosophizing that made his early books better than a typical legal thriller. This is sort of a return to better form, and to a more interesting plot.

Review: After reading all 14 books in this series I can confirm that it was well worth the time to read each one. Each story had character details as well as information on the crime, investigation & trial. I would highly recommend this series if you like legal mysteries (& a few laughs here and there). Enjoy!

Review: Alibi Defense is a terrific read. It's fascinating to follow the continuing cast of characters and stunning to realize that this is a case that Brunelle may actually lose. The ending is surprising, until the reader thinks about it and goes back to find the clues in the story that set up the ending. In addition to the story, it is gratifying to see that Brunelle continues to evolve, both as a prosecutor and as a person. Both are believable and both make us eager to read the next installment of this great series.

Review: This was definitely the best Brunelle yet! Penner had me flummoxed. How would he sidestep this obvious set-up that was near perfectly executed to make it look like he screwed everything up! I should never have doubted Penner's ability to weave a perfect web, even when it looks as if his protagonist was the one caught in it.
