Review: I had two strokes in January of this year. I have had extensive physical and occupational therapy and have been steadily improving. I am pleased with my improvement but have not been...Happy. I am no longer the person I was and to be honest, I miss me! I found the exercises have helped me make some simple changes and I feel very hopeful for the future. I feel less a victim of the strokes today because the book has helped me understand that like the brain can build new pathways through repetition, the mind is also effected by repetition and through the exercises I am learning to focus on those that help me feel happier! I would highly recommend this book for anyone who is feeling impatient with their recovery or lack of it!

Title: Great read for new and old strokies

Review: I had my stroke almost seven years ago. Not much of this is new to me, but it does explain emotions and motivation in a different way. It's a good refresher. The exercises and habits that she recommends at the end of each chapter are aimed at improving the mind so that the body can follow. You will see a lot of journal exercises. Most of them require the ability to write, although she does mention that you can use a voice recorder if you can't write. Aside from the exercises, this book is motivating and actionable. A good, easy read.
