Review: Excellent reference for this magical area. Having done the BVIs since 1992, the SVIs are fantastic, made better by the use of this guide. It was very accurate and provided excellent navigation information, especially in the tighter mooring areas. Mooring balls were very unreliable, but the mooring/anchoring fields themselves were very accurate and reliable.

Review: I had the opportunity to use this book while sailing The Spanish Virgin Islands off the coast of Puerto Rico. I really liked this cruising guide. It provided lots of in depth navigational information, charts of the islands with good depth readings, and recommended entries into the various anchorages. Also provided information on things to do ashore. I gave it four stars insted of five only because the book needs to be in a binder format with coated pages. It is easy to damage the book if it gets wet which is highly likely on a sailboat.

Title: Terrific book -- but I do recommend enlarging the photos, laminating the pages

Review: Since I am not an actual sailor, I don't mind that the pages are not laminated; but I agree that they should be, since it is obvious that this book is tailored towards actual sailors and divers, and boats/ships do get very wet. Also, the spiral notebook style would make it easier for sailors/divers to flip the pages.

What I would like to see more are larger color photos and more photos. I loved the details about places to eat. Although the book's main title focuses on Puerto Rico, I was a bit surprised that the book also treats the Dominican Republic at the start of the book, and for an expanded chunk. But this makes sense since one of Puerto Rico's islands -- Mona -- lies almost in between Santo Domingo, albeit a bit closer to Puerto Rico. Also, since the ancient Tainos, it was easier to travel by ship by canoe from the western part of Puerto to Hispaniola than it was for Puerto Ricans in the West coast of Puerto Rico to travel by foot to the east coast of Puerto Rico. And Tainos would frequently island hop from all of these islands, including those in the minor Antilles, not just between Puerto Rico and Hispaniola (Santo Domingo and Haiti).

A very fascinating read, even for a non-sailor/non-diver like myself.
