Review: The ecommerce, festival and photo apps did not work for me (chapter 7, 8 and 10). Other than that, the book is pretty cool and the writing style is remarkably clear. However, 2020 looks like medieval times in terms of software development. So, it would be great if working code (per 2023 standards) could be provided.

Review: It’s really good book to get started with AWS server-less options. It’s very instructional & have all the necessary ingredients to build the base knowledge how to build & deploy app build AWS server-less services.

It don’t go deep into some of the aspects of server-less offerings. Likes of Dynamo DB, and some aspects of GraphQL.

I would have loved to see some pricing aspects of cloud services.

It’s mostly instructional book, which relies heavily on code. Which is great.

I enjoyed it throughly. It’s fluent & easy read. Not a dull moment. I like the choices of examples in book.

One thing lacking was cons of server-less but honestly seemed like out of scope for this book.

But would have appreciated more if Author noted further learnings & books to read. And some gotchas.

Review: The book has done its job providing various examples and demonstrates how to implement a web application end-to-end using Amplify and the various AWS services including Lambda.

However, it is short of depth and much of the content could be de-duplicated. To some extent, the content of this book is better for an online crash course rather than a printed book.

Review: The author does a great job by using real world examples of features and showing how to do cutting edge tech with very simple code. It is not jargon heavy and doesnt use complex abstractions, just simple and straight forward. I would def recommend this to both seasoned devs looking to move to serverless as well as new javascript devs looking to get into the technologies that will advance their careers (and make them money!).

Review: This is an extremely slim book (164 pages) for the price. You can find all of the same material in the AWS Amplify Docs for free. I thought this was going to be an advanced guide on Serverless application architecture, but it barely scratches the surface.

That said, if you have $59.99 to spend and do not know the basics of serverless architectures, this is worth the money... if only by saving on your monthly AWS bill ;)

Review: What a let down of a book. The title claims that it will explain full stack serverless, but that's a complete lie. Last I checked, databases were kind of an important part of a server, and there is NOTHING (like 3 pages at best) about databases whatsoever.

Instead the book is basically nothing but console logs of all the AWS wizards. Almost complete garbage ... but if you want someone to hold your hand through those automated wizards, this book does do a good job of that (so I didn't give it one star).
