Title: Decent book but perhaps a little pricey for the amount of pages

Review: This book is very well done, similar to the painterly watercolor books in many ways. The front and back covers fold out so they can be used to seperate the pages when coloring. The insides of the covers include full colored completed examples of the images that are included. There are 14 full color glossy pages in front. Only two of these cover tools and basic techniques (which i think is great since once you have in depth info on that you don’t need to have it rehashed in every book you buy). Then there are 8 pages on specifics, including shadowing and highlights and so on, 2 pages for each of these topics; painting flowers, painting white flowers, painting pattern and texture and painting seeds and shiny objects. These are great with detailed illustrations for the steps. Then there are 8 pages of color charts showing the colors used in each of the completed examples of the images. Then there are 15 coloring pages on fairly heavy watercolor paper but the pages aren’t perforated . The paper seems to be cold pressed, but has an almost a linear texture unlike the random texture I have been used to (this is the second coloring book I have noticed this in, so maybe I just have been using cheap or weird paper?) The images are in a fairly pale gray color and are in a very formal botanical style. Perhaps because of the style the pages aren’t really filled but have a lot of white space.

Title: Finally a botanical painting book that is really user friendly for all of us

Review: There are a lot of Botanical painting and drawing books out there, but this on actually has the guides printed on high quality paper. I would suggest practicing color mixing and techniques on separate papers before jumping in. My only problem is choosing a flower, because they are all gorgeous. If you desire to paint realistic watercolor flowers and are interested in botanical painting, you’ll love this book.

Review: This book is advertised towards water color beginners. It is beautiful and the fact that the pages are pre-drawn and removable, is awesome. The description says it comes with instructions.
Well. Kind of. Not really. It outlines the different techniques needed for the flowers in general, but hats it. All you get is a picture or the finished flier and what colors where used. You are on your own to figure out the rest.
This is for advanced arrived who cannot/don’t want to sketch. That’s it.
If your are a beginning artist like me, don’t waste your money and get excited to learn how to paint flowers with this book. You will be disappointed and overwhelmed by the amount of talent and expertise needed for this book.

Title: meets expectations for watercolor botanical art

Review: The pictures are beautifully drawn in light gray lines on student grade hot press watercolor paper. This paper gave me
no problems ( no excess warping or pilling) as long as I used a light touch and did not overdo the water (which is what I would do on artist quality paper). Color versions of each drawing were included as reference as were some simple instructions and the color palette. I bought this pad to practice botanical watercolor techniques and it served the purpose.

Title: Beautiful watercolor book...but...

Review: I bought this book after seeing someone review it on YouTube. The pictures are beautiful, the watercolor paper is great, the sketch is easy to see but the directions are nonexistent. They suggest a color palette for each flower and that's it. I muddled my way through but I wouldn't recommend this for a beginner.

Review: The other reviews that mention this had very little direction are correct, and since they've already been mentioned I won't go into further detail on that bit. The outlines are pretty light gray which can be difficult to see if your lighting isn't great, they are also very simplistic- very basic shape outlines with no guides as to color placement or shading other than the couple pages at the beginning. In addition, this is hot press paper which is less forgiving with pooling and soaking up color- not great for beginners still getting the hang of color control and bleeding. The suggested materials is also pretty counter to normal advise for beginners. Going out to buy a 24(!) color set of artist quality paints will run easily over $100, and that's if you magically find a set with these exact colors that doesn't require additional tubes to follow their guide. You would be better served ignoring the front section altogether and just winging it based on the example pictures.
That being said, the pages were good quality, don't buckle with light washes, and I found them easy to tear out despite there being no perforation. I think most beginners would be equally well served with a coloring book intended for markers/ liquid mediums that work through painting segments/sections rather than relying on talent for color building and shading in a new and difficult to control medium.
