Title: Not even through the first chapter, and it's almost all highlighted

Review: This is the best book on, not ONLY narcissism, but the umbrella of narcissism. Sociopaths and psychopaths are included. I've read A LOT of books, essays, and psychology articles over the years. I'm nearly 51 and have been searching for most of my adult life for answers.

THIS book is the best book on narcs by far. She breaks it down, piece by piece, so that the layman can easily decipher everything and understand. No complicated "doctor" speak.

It's like your best friend (who's been there) is taking the time to break it all down, explain everything in a way you can relate to, and UNDERSTANDS it herself. I understand that the author was in a relationship with a narcissist and also raised by a narcissist. Maybe this is why her books resonate so deeply. She's actually lived it herself.

Shahida, if you're reading this....I just love you and the work you're doing!

Title: THIS is the book Ive been looking for

Review: Daughter of a narcissist mother, Ive read too many books on how they behave, why they do what they do etc.
This book shows you what to do about it. Showed me how to APPLY what I learned in counseling, which is exactly what I needed. When they are old and sick and no contact is not an option, this gives you examples and strategys to help salvage whats left of your sanity.
Healing does not come quickly but this book has been the most helpful so far.

Title: Wish I had it 20 years ago

Review: I cannot adequately express the extent to which this book continues to positively impact my life. From the first paragraph in the Introduction, I felt as if the author were narrating my life. Although I am an easily distracted reader, I have been able to focus on the content without difficulty because of the way it's organized, the level of detail and explanation, and examples of what one might experience as an adult. This book is giving me:
1. The benefit of naming and organizing all of the "stuff" I have been carrying since childhood
2. Validation in knowing that I'm not defective, my parent with NPD was
3. Reassurance in that I am not the only one with these awful childhood experiences
4. The opportunity for healing
5. Hope

I am definitely pro-therapy/counseling, but this book has done something critical for me that I didn't get or wasn't able to accept through counseling. I now have the perspective I need to shed the cloak of pain, shame, and distorted self-image. I recognize this as a lot of credit for one book. However, the content and presentation are exactly what I needed, and I am so grateful.

Review: My whole entire life I wondered why I did the things I did and why I reacted the way I did to certain kinds of people and/or situations. NOW I know what the issue is/was and I have some peace. For the first time in my life, I feel sane and I'm healing. It was nice to know that I wasn't alone. I stopped and cried several times throughout this book. I recommend this book to anyone - even to someone who didn't have the type of parent that I had. It will help you recognize and understand why some people are the way they are. Thank you!

I also liked insights if you don’t feel you are in a position to totally cut off contact. The last chapter of super skills was a highlight too. Well worth reading!

Review: I borrowed this book from a friend then paid the $6 (Kindle) to own. It is well organized, thoughtful and useful. It's empowering to have all the terms of abuse sorted out. The author injects her experience where appropriate. I am a man and this is written by a woman. There is even a chapter on Daddy Issues. That doesn't stop me from finding this book useful in healing. Not too short, not too long. A well balanced and highly healing read.

I don't like how the chapters aren't numbered. She refers to a block of text instead of chapter 7. It causes me to flip through to the table of contents then find that sentence, page number, etc. That's about my only complaint though.
