Title: Difficult to implement if you're not a pastor

Review: I read the first few chapters of this book and had to put it down. My problem with it is that too many of his assertions are impossible for me to implement unless I was a paid pastor like he was. Don't get me wrong, I am not against surrendering to God, I have done this to the best of my ability, but I am not a pastor and cannot see how a person can live the kind of life that Murray proposes and still live in the competitive world where one must be assertive and the best he or she can be to be able to compete. I am sure there will be some who take exception to what I have said, but so be it. I am a huge fan of Charles Finney and George Mueller and have read their memoirs over and over. Müller and Finney I believe were also men totally surrendered to God but probably would have articulated what that means differently than Murray. With Finney, I see a man who was the best that he could be at mastering the talent and giftings that the Lord given him and God greatly used him. Same with Müller. Perhaps there is something I am missing with Murray's book. Perhaps I should try reading further through it, but what he proposed in the first few chapters seemed totally unrealistic to me and I could not wrap my brain around his proposals.

Review: A newly reborn soul may not enjoy, but one a bit more maturing will enjoy this title. Get it with Murray's "famous" Humility book, you'll find bpth are directly to the point, and to me, best of all is that it's not in a daily devotional form as so many of Murray's works are offered.

Review: I heard my calling 2 years ago in a time where I could not be more broken, found church and got baptized thinking this it my life would be great, this was not the case, It got worse where I felt confused, and thought great I can't even be a Christian right to even God does not want me and came very close to falling back asleep, but through my own hunger to know God I found a book by AW Towser and it gave me hope and guidance and through my journey I found Andrew Murray, AB Simpson, St Augustine, the women's bible and how to actually read and pray but I wanted my husband to share that journey but with 20 years of mistreatment and through my own fears I have begged, pleaded, put my worth down hoping he would love me then today as I pleaded through teary eyes for him to tell me what to change so he could love me I saw in his face my error, I went outside and told God I realized in that moment that I actually had been worshipping a man and I did not need his love to be me. At that moment I asked God to tell me what to do and this book popped in my library I must of bought it a while back but never read it, how amazing his response was, I had my will not Gods, I do not have the power to change anyone only God does and in reading the whole book I felt peace and though its scarry I know he has a purpose and as long as God loves me that is the true man I should beg and worship. I don't know what is ahead and its scary beyond belief to release my husband's hold but I will take it moment by moment. I hope my testimony can help someone else who is lost and broken. -Amen

Review: Andrew Murray does a great job of pointing out our need to be absolutely surrendered to God the Father through Jesus Christ the Son Who gives us fruitful lives through the Holy Spirit. He describes how the Holy Spirit provides us with the "sap" from the Vine to make us fulfilled in accordance with the true purpose for which God created us - to be loved by Him, to love Him in return, and to love others all for His glory.
