Title: And that's a wrap on The Children of D'Hara series.

Review: For this novella, I doubt that anyone is reading reviews to make an informed decision on whether to buy the book. You'd probably want to start with book 1 or even go back to sword of truth book 1.

With that said, I thought it was a decent conclusion. I didn't expect this to wrap up in Book 5 but it did. Looking back, how everything developed seemed to be rushed. Kahlans whole interaction with Shota and such...just rushed.

Thank the good spirits that Terry stopped repeating himself as much as he did for several of the books. Terry Goodkind is a talented author yet he sometimes explains the same thing over and over again almost as if he needed to meet a word count quota. "What do you mean" asked the Commander of the First File.

Richard stared at the man, towering over him. "Listen, Terry sometimes says the same thing over and over again."

The commander seemed to understand what Richard was saying. "Lord Rahl...Do you mean to say that Terry, the creator of these books, repeats himself frequently?"

Richard laughed..."Yes, Commander. Maybe Terry smokes a ton of weed and can't remember what he last wrote. So he repeats it."

Title: Lacks the polish I expect from Mr. Goodkind

Review: It really kills me to say this because I love everything TG puts out. I've read every single book in the Sword of Truth universe, even the spin offs. I hold Terry Goodkind to a high standard, this book failed to meet that standard and is the only book of his I would rate below a 5 star, it doesn't feel like a genuine TG book, it lacks the polish. There were some terms used that sounded more like something used on social media rather than an epic fantasy, for instance; "crazy smart" and "good luck with that". Chapters 71-74 were so redundant in was was being said about The Gateway and Constructed Spells, I had to double check I wasn't reading a chapter I already read. It had its good parts and I can appreciate it considering it's a small book with alot to finish up, but he's capable of so much more. I only hope that this is a segway into a series where we can now bridge The Law Of Nines universe into the story line by use of the Gateway. If we can get back to that story line, I will gladly change this review to a 5 and never speak ill of this book again because then its purpose would make sense - introduce a device that could bring Alex & Jax back and fourth between Alex's world and Jax's world that would be required to save Alex's world after Richard's Golden Era began to come to come to an end.

Title: THE BATTLE FOR TWO WORLDS ENDS HERE

In this, the final chapter of the CHILDREN OF D'HARA saga, Richard, Khalan, and the rest of his party that make up the Law of Nine have found their way to the safety of Aydindril and the Wizard's Keep completely blocked with only one hope to find their way through. And, that way is most assuredly a trap. Yet, Richard WILL find a way, as he always does, but that way may destroy the entire world.

Book 5...Goodkind wraps this story arc in this, the last book in 677 pages, effectively twice as long as any of the other four chapters in the story. This has all the Sword of Truth flavors and feels and the author stays true to his characters development and ongoing story. The only drawback I find is that the threat that has been looming throughout four and a half books is effectively eliminated in less than a moment's time leaving the reader (well...at least ME) feeling a little like...'Wait...is that it?' I will say that there is still some ends to tie up and a few pending story lines that come to a close, but that was a little anti-climatic for me. Even so, this is a fairly typical Terry Goodkind adventure and concludes this chapter in the on going SWORD OF TRUTH epic saga.

Review: From the opening page to the last (of Episode 5), I was on edge, really sitting on pins and needles. I was truly fretting over the fact that the twins were going to die before they are born and there was nothing Richard could do about it because of Sota, that truly evil witch. I felt like crying with and for Kahlan who had been demoted to the equivalent of an obedient demure servant, whose sole purpose is to obey and execute Sota and her Coven wishes and endure their steady verbal and sometimes physical abuse.

Pushed on a hazardous and difficult journey over rough terrain and slippery snow covered mountain path towards Sota home, while Richard is buried under tons of rock and left for dead, no one to save her, the Glees are ready to invade, Shale joins Sota’s coven, now Kahlan must decide whether to induce a miscarriage or commit suicide.

When it seems hope is lost and despair rules, Kahlan extricate herself from morose and pulled off the miracle of miracles ..... You have to get this episode to see what she did, what finally happened to Richard who’s buried under tons of rocks and the results of the Golden Queen and her Glees invasion plans. It’s a must read, I recommend it, Mr. Goodkind didn’t disappoint.

The book was good but anticlimactic when it came to the Golden Goddess for me. That confrontation was a bit of a let down, she seemed much more intelligent and dangerous when communicating through others and their actions.

The device was pretty interesting, I knew it would have something to do with the Language of Creation when it was mentioned that there were symbols all over it. It opens up MANY more possibilities for the future. I mean if there is one magical machine that can transport you to another world from millennia ago, who's to say there wasn't some sort of exodus that happened in the past with other like devices and there are other world's populated with others with the Gift and whole separate civilizations? Something to think about.

Disappointed Shota will no longer be showing up in the series, she was a very interesting character. Really never knew what she was going to say or do. The way she went was so sudden. Reminded me of when Zedd passed 😢 totally wasn't expecting it.

And the highlight of the book to me was the children being born. The last sentences of the book were a big wow to me. They are going to be special in ways I can't imagine. To me that was the beginning of "The Golden Age".
