Review: I love Taylor Caldwell’s books and this held my attention until the end, but it didn’t have a unifying theme. Jason has a couple of spiritual experiences. Nice, but where do they lead? I spent half the book thinking that the “man” would be Sebastian. Nope. There is a hotsy-totsy love scene between Jason and his true love, but it takes the convenient quick deaths of inconvenient spouses to lead to what I assume is Jason marrying his true love, in the last few pages. Maybe Caldwell heard Death’s winged chariot hurrying near and slapped a quickie ending on the novel. It’s a shame, but this hasn’t the punch of A Prologue to Love or The Turnbulls.
Still, it moved right along and I did enjoy it.

Title: Another great Taylor Caldwell Book: Her Last

Review: Taylor Caldwell was a masterful story teller. Her characters are so vivid, it’s hard to part with them at the end of the book. Her prose is almost poetic. The combination of the history of the Irish treatment in America in the early 20th century and the state of politics was something I was aware of but I loved the research she did that provided her insight and details. The Catholic Church played such an important part of Irish life, either their embracing or rejecting it. Belief in God was a recurrent theme.

Review: I read my first Caldwell novel at age 18. I always had a dictionary near me because Ms Caldwell had such an amazing vocabulary. I was an avid reader in my late teens. I then rediscovered her at age 63. Her novels remain even more relevant to today's political climate than when originally written, and when I first read her in the 1970`s I love her gift of character and story development. Always great writing,what I cherish most in books.

Review: I read almost all of Taylor Caldwell’s books years ago. You could say I was obsessed! I remembered this book as being a particular favorite, and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it again. I’m always challenged to learn new words from her books, so I find myself checking the meaning of words periodically. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys historical fiction.

Review: Taylor Caldwell is one of my favorite authors. Her work will give you an interesting perspective and history of the Irish immigrants and their challenges of living in pre World War I America. Her character development is extraordinary and she gives you an in-depth history lesson hand-in-hand with a good read.
