A Midlife Crisis in Africa is the story of a couple in their late 40’s joining the Peace Corps. Leaving family and friends behind, Lonnie and Kathy venture to Uganda where they hope they will be able to help others in need. Along the journey they develop life-long friendships with other volunteers, witness the good and the bad of their fellow man, and marvel at the wonders of this glorious planet. After struggling with feelings of loneliness and separation, dealing with Safari ants, hippos, and even a blind taxi driver, the couple’s views of themselves and the world around them is changed forever.

Review: Likes: Unique perspective - provided insight to day-to-day life and culture in Uganda.
Lonnie - met him locally and he is an interesting and kind character.
Dislikes: This literary project does not reflect his best effort. If I were a teacher, he'd've received a 'D' on this project. He merely sifted through emails and chose those he liked best to tell the story. He's a teacher - he could've done MUCH better!
It appears the majority of these reviews are from people who know the author. Rather than leaving an accurate review of the book, they're leaving leaving a review of the person who wrote it. I realize he's a likeable gent, but blowing smoke doesn't help anyone.

Review: Lonnie is able to convey poignant details about events that are unbelievable, humdrum and sublime from the point of view of an American living in Uganda. While my term with Peace Corps Uganda 2016 was abbreviated, I found myself easily transported back to my time together with Lonnie and Kathy. Great job, my friend!
