Review: My daughter (9) is a little advanced for her age, this book is probably for the reading level of an 11 or 12 year old. This book's subject's, like a lot of Barabara O'Connor novel's, deal with mature, real life situations. Not shy of the nitty gritty. I've proof read all the authors books and I've enjoyed them...my daughter LOVES them. She enjoys the the detailed story telling, which inspires her to write her own stories! She can also relate to the feelings and emotions of the protagonist, an adolescent girl. Like most of the authors books, this one dives head first into adventure, morality, conflict, and resolution. Not only is this book fun, descriptive, and thought provoking, it's also inspirational. A perfect read for a daring youth that isn't afraid to delve into the sensitive subjects and imaginative story telling this book provides.

Review: My daughter received this book after reading and liking another book by the same author and it didn’t disappoint. The main character’s family faces a difficult situation and she makes a decision to do something drastic to attempt to change her family’s circumstances. The book continues with her quickly realizing that she really didn’t think things through very well and she has to come up with solutions to the new problems that she didn’t anticipate. Without spoiling the ending, things do end up working out. It’s a great story about not making judgements by outward appearances, accepting help when it’s offered and to trust your gut feelings.

Review: Love every book by this author. I read them with my 8 and 11 year old grandkids, and I believe they help them to develop empathy. How to Steal a Dog is among my favorites. Characters are memorable, and you find yourself rooting for them.

Review: I thought this book was great considering that it is called "how to steal a dog". This book had lots of emotion and love and kindness. I loved the characters! I think it is definitely worth the $7. It was also really funny! But i am not going to say parts of the book because i dont want to spoil it for you! This book was another winner from Barbara O'Conner. NOT a waste of time AT ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hope you enjoy this book (if you decide to buy it) alot!!!

Review: A fifth grade student recommended this book to me since she knew I liked to read. She's a great kid so I thought I should read it and let her know how much I enjoyed her choice. It is a good solid read for late elementary level readers, and even higher readers for pure enjoyment. It has many elements worthy of discussion and further analysis.

Review: I read every night with my 10 year old and this never happened to us. This story was so bad we couldn’t finish the book.NOTHING justifies stealing or doing what the kids were doing. I felt pretty uncomfortable reading it but I was hoping they’d give up so I kept reading it.Finally, when the kids actually knew the dog owner had no money and they still kept pushing to get $500 bucks reward, my child asked me to stop reading because it was just so wrong! I was relieved because I was hating it by that point.Very disappointed! A waste of money

Review: If you haven't had a chance to read this yet, you really should. It's the story of a pre-teen girl in a homeless family who hatches a desperate plan to secure a home for her, her mom, and her younger brother. With a lovingly depicted small southern town as a backdrop, this story is in turns charming, melancholy, and funny. Most of all, though, it's an insightful portrait (and for younger readers, a useful example) of a young girl facing her first struggle with her conscience.

Review: This story was interesting. My 9 year old son read it aloud to me and he enjoyed Crenshaw more. It was good for comparison. These are good books to discuss perspective and how to deal with problems in general. The boy in Crenshaw was helpful and had a grownup point of view compared with the girl in this story that didn't deal with the situation as well.
