Review: I purchased and read this cover to cover right before my ICU rotation (I am a 4th year med student). Not only was it outrageously informative, but it is written very well-- I seriously could not put it down, which is saying something for a medical textbook. Dr. Owens explains the ins and outs of each ventilator mode and incorporates the underlying pathophysiology which makes it a comprehensive read.

Review: Love this book. Third edition doesn’t have a acid base. Would appreciate winters formula, expected pco2 and A-a as well as anion gap explanation to get it to 5 stars!

Review: I use this with the ICU book to read up on ventilators. The ICU book is good for more detail, this book summarizes things well in a very quick and dirty format. I like both. I wouldn't use either as an on-the-spot reference for an emergency, however I work at an academic center where I have plenty of colleagues to consult. Can't comment on its usefulness in the rural setting with less help around

Review: I’m an RN and was looking for further my knowledge on ventilators especially with the recent surge of covid and in my unit we have had a lot of intubated patients. The chapter regarding APRV and covid does exceptionally well at explaining and breaking it down for you. Have even had a pulmonologist look over this book for me and he said he would recommend it to his students.
